The city of Davenport is located in the state of Iowa. It is considered the seat of government of Scott County, wherein it is also the largest among the county’s cities. Geographically, Davenport lies along the banks of the Mississippi River. Its location is halfway between the cities of Des Moines and Chicago. It also serves as the border of the states of Illinois and Iowa. According to the Census Bureau, Davenport is southeast of the Minneapolis city, and north of the St. Louis city, both in Minnesota. It is the 3rd most populous city in the state of Iowa, and the 284th most populous city in the United States. In addition, the city is part of the Quad Cities that have a population of 383, 681 as of 2013. The Quad Cities Metropolitan Area is comprised of 5 cities near the Mississippi River, namely: Moline, Rock Island, East Moline, Davenport and Bettendorf. These cities belong to two states, Illinois and Iowa.

According to statistics, the city of Davenport boasts a lower cost of living as compared to the national average in the United States. However, this does not mean that the quality of living in the city is compromised. In fact, the city garnered the award “City Livability Award” in the category of “small-city” in 2007.
