Winston Salem – The Twin City of the Arts and Innovation

Winston Salem is a city in the US state of North Carolina. In 2012, the estimated population count in the city is around 234,349, making the city the fifth largest one in the state of North Carolina. The city of Winston-Salem is considered the second largest municipality in the region of Piedmont Triad.

The city of Winston Salem prides as having dual heritage. In fact, the city has been called ‘Twin City.’ Moreover, the city is also nicknamed the ‘City of the Arts and Innovation,’ as the city is dedicated to theater, fine arts, and technological research. Aside from these nicknames, the city has also been called the Camel City, as referenced to the city’s involvement in the tobacco industry. The city of Winston Salem is also known for the city’s traditional furniture company.

The city of Winston Salem has many attractions that are frequented by both locals and tourists. One of the famous ones is the SciWorks. This is a 25,000-square foot exhibit space, 15-acre outdoor park, and a 119-seat Planetarium. Locals and tourists also frequent the Bethabara Historic District. This is the site where Moravians from Pennsylvania first settled in the state of North Carolina.
